Nature’s Most Precious Gift
Cashmere is one of nature’s rarest gifts – a fibre that has been cherished for thousands of years, accompanying human civilization since its earliest days. Today, Inner Mongolia remains one of the world’s finest origins of cashmere, where vast grasslands and traditional pastoral practices have been preserved for centuries, goats live freely and are carefully tended in harmony with the land. This balance between people, animals, and nature is at the heart of our sourcing philosophy.
Goat cashmere consists of delicate, naturally curled fibres that trap layers of air, protecting the body from the cold while retaining warmth. Compared with sheep’s wool, it is finer, softer, lighter, and warmer, yet also resilient and elastic, with a natural sheen that feels both gentle and refined. Yet during the development of our collection, we tested garments from more than two hundred factories and discovered a recurring flaw: many pure cashmere pieces, shaped by factors such as climate and fibre conditions, carried a slight prickliness that conflicted with our vision of effortless comfort. After extensive research, prototyping, and testing, our founder found the answer in baby goat cashmere — known here at YULYNK as first-fleece cashmere — is a fiber of extraordinary fineness, softness, and tenderness against the skin. Harvested only once in a goat’s first year, it is as rare as it is gentle, produced in exceptionally limited quantities. It also affirmed our commitment to craft exclusively to garments made from this rare material.
The harvesting process reflects the same care. Each spring, as the weather warms but before the fine undercoat naturally sheds, herders gently comb the goats with specially made tools to collect the fibres. This process is completely safe, harmless, and even soothing for the animals. Each baby goat yields less than 50 grams in its first year, making the fibre extraordinarily scarce. Around 60 baby goats are needed to yield enough of this delicate fibre for just one coat. With global warming reducing the availability of high-quality fibres, it becomes even more precious. This reminds us that true luxury can never be mass-produced; it exists only where respect for nature sets the limits.
Exceptional softness and warmth
YULYNK first fleece cashmere, measuring around 13.5 microns in diameter, is one of the most delicate animal fibre known. Its natural crimp allows it to interlock tightly, creating warmth without heaviness. By choosing such rare fibres, we design coats that last for decades, reducing over-consumption and ensuring every piece honors the resources used.
Nature’s own palette
Cashmere fibres are evenly fine, low in density, and highly absorbent, allowing colours to dye richly and resist fading. Compared with other fibres, cashmere carries a natural glow that feels pure and refined. To preserve this authenticity and reduce environmental impact, we also offer an undyed shade – a true gift from nature, with unparalleled softness and lustre. These pieces embody our vision: fashion that coexists with the earth rather than taking from it.
Resilient and enduring
With its natural curl and elasticity, cashmere creates garments that are soft, supple, and long-lasting. Our coats retain their shape without shrinking, even after years of wear. Small folds from packaging disappear naturally after hanging, requiring no artificial treatment. Each piece is designed not just to be worn, but to be cherished – a garment made with care for both people and the planet.
